Tungsten Copper Melting Point

Tungsten Copper Alloy
The alloy which is used by taking copper and tungsten is known as copper tungsten alloy. Such alloys are pseudo alloys of tungsten and copper which means that their microstructure is a metal matrix composite and not really a true alloy. This happens because copper and tungsten are not mutually soluble when mixed together. When copper and tungsten are combined, the material which is obtained has properties of both copper and tungsten. The material which is obtained is heat-resistant, thermally conductive and has high electrical conductivity as well. These materials are also ablation resistant. This is the reason why this material is used for making copper tungsten electrodes.



Tungsten Copper Alloy Features
Tungsten copper is composite materials using excellent metal characteristic of high-purity tungsten powder, and good plasticity, high conductivity of high purity copper powder, by refining process of isocratic pressing, high temperature sintering, and dissolved copper infiltration. Good broken arc performance, good thermal conductivity, little thermal expansion, does not soften at high temperature, high strength, high density, and high hardness.


Tungsten copper has good electrical and thermal conductivity, good high temperature strength and certain plasticity. At very high temperatures, such as above 3000 , the copper in alloy is liquefied and evaporated, absorbs heat, reduces the surface temperature. So this kind of material is also called metal sweating materials.

Tungsten Copper Thermal Conductivity

As the speed and degree of integration of semiconductor devices increases, more heat is generated, and the performance and lifetime of semiconductor devices depend on the dissipation of the generated heat. Tungsten copper alloys have high electrical and thermal conductivity, low contact resistances, and low coefficients of thermal expansion, thus allowing them to be used as a shielding material for microwave packages, and heat sinks for high power integrated circuits (ICs). In this study, the thermal conductivity and thermal expansion of several types of tungsten–copper (W–Cu) composites are investigated, using compositions of 5–30 wt.% copper balanced with tungsten. The tungsten–copper powders were produced using the spray conversion method, and the W–Cu alloys were fabricated via the metal injection molding. The tungsten–copper composite particles were nanosized, and the thermal conductivity of the W–Cu alloys gradually decreases with temperature increases. The thermal conductivity of the W–30 wt. % Cu composite was 238 W/(m K) at room temperature.


We present the temperature dependence of the thermophysical properties for tungsten–copper composite from room temperature to 400 °C. The powders of tungsten–copper were produced by the spray conversion method and the W–Cu alloys were fabricated by the metal injection molding. Thermal conductivity and thermal expansion of tungsten–copper composite was controllable by volume fraction copper.

New Order for Tungsten Copper Plate

Last week, we have got our old client’s new order for tungsten copper plate, and this client is from Malaysia, he is a good client.
Last order, he have order some rods and some plates, he said our products are excellent. And they wook well, so he want to order more this time.

Tungsten copper plate is a combination of tungsten and copper. The manufacturing process is as follows: press the refractory metal, sinter the pressed compact at a high temperature, and infiltrate it with copper. All this is done under very closely controlled conditions. The result is a relatively hard material with superior arc and wear resistance, high physical Properties: at elevated temperatures, and good electrical and thermal conductivity.

Tungsten Copper Welding Electrode

At the end of September, our client inform us our tungsten copper welding electrode which have been delivery to his company at the end of July are not suitable for his application.
He inform us maybe the material are wrong, the real material he have been used are not tungsten copper, so he send us his product. We have got his product on the Oct.8th, 2014. As we could not testing the materials content, so we have sent the products to Beijing to test. Now, the the test result reports that the material is not tungsten copper, it is pure tungsten.
We inform the client we are also able provide pure tungsten, so the client requires us provide the quotation about pure tungsten to him. Now, the price are under calculating, we will provide the price to him soon.

Tungsten Copper Rod For Iran Client

At the end of August, we have finished our Iran client’s products. And it seems everything is Ok. However, these days, we got the feedback from our client that our products have some problems, and while them 
milling our tungsten copper rods, they look some area without any copper. It is a big problem, so we 
discuss with our technical department about this problems.

However, our technical department informed us maybe the different testing method will affect the result. At the same time, the tungsten copper belongs to easily oxidized products. Electrical contacts are subjected to extreme mechanical and thermal stresses during operation. For fractions of a second, temperatures rise to several thousand degrees as a result of the arcing. Only Tungsten Copper materials will stand these high temperature & aberration.


Tungsten Copper material has good resistance to arc erosion, mechanical wear, contact welding and good conductivity. They are usually selected for oil, gas, air or vacuum, devices. The contact surfaces will oxidize when switched in air. These press-sinter-infiltrate materials should only be considered for arcing surfaces in air when used as arcing tips, arc plates and arc runners. When switching with moderate contact arcing, the Tungsten Copper with a high copper content may give the lowest erosion.
